On Monday’s broadcast of Despierta América, a sad announcement was made that left the show in mourning.

«Today we say goodbye to a great friend…» was posted on the social media accounts of the television show.

It didn’t take long for netizens to express their condolences and farewell messages, but who passed away?

Venezuelan host Raúl González spoke up to share why Despierta América is in mourning.

«There are moments that are hard and very sad,» Raúl said, as his colleagues listened attentively.

Sadly, they had to say goodbye to their long-time cameraman, Antonio Alberto ‘Tony’ Díaz.

Raúl González shared that ‘Tony’ was a very important part of the Despierta América and Univision teams.

«We send a hug to his family. Rest in peace, ‘Mister TV,’ as we affectionately called him,» he said.

As he spoke these emotional words, the screen displayed some photos of the cameraman with various personalities.

«This is how we honor you: with a standing ovation,» he concluded.

After seeing that Despierta América is mourning the death of Tony Díaz, viewers quickly reacted.
