A violent road rage incident ended in tragedy this Tuesday in Midtown Atlanta.
A 28-year-old man took his own life after being involved in a shooting on a public road.
According to the Atlanta Police Department (APD), the incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. (local time), as reported by 11Alive.
The shooting took place on Northside Drive NW, between Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and Marietta Street NW, a busy area near the Georgia Tech campus.
SHOOTING REPORTED IN MIDTOWN ATLANTA
Authorities quickly responded to two nearby locations, Northside Dr. NW and Marietta St. NW, as well as Northside Dr. NW and 10th St. NW, where the events unfolded.
According to Lieutenant Andrew Smith, commander of the APD’s homicide division, the tragic event was triggered during a road rage dispute.

In an act of violence, the 28-year-old man shot another driver, a 51-year-old man, wounding him in the arm.
The victim was immediately transported to Grady Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which fortunately were not life-threatening.

«The shooter who died was heading north on Northside, crashed into a vehicle here, and then opened fire on another vehicle,» Smith said. «The driver of that vehicle was not hit.»
After the initial shooting, the aggressor continued northward but soon lost control of his vehicle and crashed into another car.
This crash, which occurred on Northside Drive NW, marked a turning point in this Atlanta shooting.
Far from stopping, the man exited his vehicle and fired at another passing car. However, in this second shooting, the driver of the targeted vehicle was not injured.

According to Lieutenant Smith, after shooting the red car, the aggressor took his own life, as reported by 11Alive.
