Record number of US work visas. Good news for Mexicans who have wanted to come to the US seeking the long awaited American Dream. Due to different circumstances many have not been able to achieve this. People looking to work in the United States always have a hard time getting visas.

Now excellent news has been released by the US government as authorities have revealed that they will make it easier for Mexicans who enter the country to work legally and thus create a better life for their families. This has excited millions of Mexican citizens.

According to the EFE agency, the Government of Mexico stated on Tuesday that Mexicans will receive a record number of 356,000 work visas from the United States after the meeting between the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his American counterpart, Joe Biden.

«He informed them that in 2021, 310,781 visas were given and for this year we estimate there will be around 356,000 H work visas, which would be the highest number reached by Mexico so far this century,» Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard revealed in the daily press conference of the National Palace.

This news comes after Mexican president, López Obrador’s visit to the White House on July 12.  However, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs did not specify if the president addressed a specific number of visas in his conversation with Biden.

Similarly, the foreign minister stated that Washington “already has a proposal from Mexico and it is being considered by the United States government, but its line of thinking goes in that direction: increase the number of visas.” This is to benefit Mexicans arriving in the country. «Mexico has proposed that the United States government increase the number of visas for citizens of Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Haiti,» Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard stated.

Secretary Ebrard recalled that the United States had already announced on March 31st 55,000 additional H2B visas for workers from those four countries. Therefore, not only Mexico will benefit from the labor shortage in the United States, according to EFE. Filed Under: Record work visas

The López Obrador government has raised its demands for the United States to grant temporary work visas, invest in development for southern Mexico and Central America, and speed up an immigration reform to legalize almost 11 million undocumented immigrants, of whom about half are Mexican.

The region is experiencing a record migratory flow to the United States, whose Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has intercepted more than 1.6 million people so far in fiscal year 2022, which began last October.
