This Saturday, May 18, former soccer player Sergio “Pixie” Violante Vergara passed away. Violante, known for his career at Pachuca, wore the club’s shirt for seven years.
Six of those years were consecutive. The former player had been facing health complications for several days.

Born in Pachuca, Violante was discovered by Miguel Rico, a renowned coach.
His soccer career began in Veracruz, where he made his professional debut. Later, he arrived in Pachuca under the orders of José “Che” Gómez.
With the Tuzos, he played six consecutive seasons in the 1980s. He retired from football in 1991.

His retirement occurred when Benjamin Fal, then coach of Pachuca, invited him to be part of his coaching staff.
Thus, Sergio Violante put an end to his career as a professional footballer. Violante was close to playing in the top circuit with Querétaro.
