The Mexican community in the United States has their worst fears confirmed by the Mexican government.

Mexican Foreign Minister Alica Bárcena announced that Mexican citizens are among the victims of the devastating bus accident that took place in Marion County, Florida on Tuesday.

What started out as an ordinary day for a group of farmworkers headed to Cannon Farms turned into a nightmare.

A bus transporting these day laborers was involved in a terrible accident.

The tragedy claimed the lives of at least eight people and left more than 40 injured, according to the Georgia Highway Patrol.

The fateful incident occurred on the region’s main highway, near Ocala, north of Tampa.

The bus collided violently with a pickup truck, causing the vehicle to swerve out of its lane, crash through a fence and finally overturn, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake.

Photos on Fox 35 captured the heartbreaking scene, with the bus overturned on the side of the road, surrounded by trees and a destroyed wooden fence.

Cannon Farms, where the migrant workers were heading, announced in a message on social media that it would suspend its activities for the day as a sign of respect for the losses and injuries suffered in the accident.

Alicia Bárcena, expressed her regret for the tragic event in a statement.

The Mexican official confirmed the tragedy without specifying the exact number of Mexicans involved or how many lost their lives in the tragic event, according to EFE.

The Mexican Consulate in Orlando has deployed its resources to provide support and protection to those affected.

Citizans in the area were asked to contact the Mexican authorities to receive assistance in the midst of this painful situation.

The fatal accident has generated a wave of solidarity and support in both Mexico and the United States.

According to EFE, some 53 migrant day laborers were traveling on the bus on the busiest highway in that northern Florida county heading to Cannon Farms, which grows watermelons.
