‘El Mayo’ Zambada is known for his role in drug trafficking in North America. His capture marks a significant blow to the Sinaloa Cartel.
The Sinaloa Cartel is one of the most powerful criminal organizations in the world. Zambada co-founded the cartel alongside ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán.

His arrest has generated great anticipation in both Mexico and the United States. His trial is expected to be one of the most important in the fight against drug trafficking.
U.S. authorities have been pursuing Zambada for a long time.
According to Feuer, “although federal prosecutors in El Paso had vehemently sought to keep the case in Texas, the Department of Justice decided to send Zambada García to Brooklyn because they felt the case there was strong.”
Additionally, “they were concerned about the security issues involved in prosecuting a major Mexican drug lord so close to the border,” revealed sources familiar with the situation.
Furthermore, the sources indicated the following about some of the prosecutors who oversaw the trial against Guzmán Loera, according to El Financiero.
“(They) had agreed to return to prosecute the case against Zambada García,” and that the judge who oversaw ‘El Chapo’s case, Brian M. Cogan, was well-versed in matters related to the process.”
