His ‘craving’ proved costly. Man stabbed after exiting taxi. He wanted to see if his favorite taqueria was open.

Mauricio Bravo Quiñones, a construction worker and immigrant, was traveling with his girlfriend.

The 29-year-old died at New York’s Queens Presbyterian Hospital, where he had been taken by private means.

Investigations determined that he was stabbed multiple times all over his body. No arrests have been made.

Upon exiting the taxi, some individuals confronted them, and although his girlfriend wanted to help, the taxi driver closed the car doors and took her home.

It was then that she called friends for help, and shortly after, she found out that he had been stabbed.

Mauricio Bravo Quiñones’ brother revealed to the Daily News that he had no idea who wanted to kill the victim.

«I only know that the detectives told us it was gang-related. I say: ‘How could it be a gang, apart from being mistaken and pursued up to here?'»

This Sunday, an impromptu memorial was set up for Bravo at the place where he lost his life.

Family members remember him as someone who loved partying and dancing: «We were practically the clowns of the family,» said Anival.

Mauricio Bravo Quiñones was about five years old when he emigrated to the US from Mexico with his family.

At 16, he left school to work in construction under the orders of an uncle. Later, he started working on his own.

His plans included starting his own construction company.

In this way, he wanted to help his friends or anyone in need of work.
