What was meant to be a special night for a couple ended in tragedy.
While celebrating his wife’s birthday, a young Mexican cook was stabbed to death.
The victim, Mateo Solís Tlalpachitoc, 20 years old, worked at a food cart.
At one point, he began arguing with two people at a restaurant in Upper Manhattan, New York, who then fled the scene.

According to information from El Diario de NY, the Mexican cook worked to support his family.
He had planned to build a house in Mexico with his savings, but that dream will no longer be possible.

His older brother, Javier, told the Daily News that Mateo arrived in the U.S. two years ago.
He revealed that their mother had diabetes and, unfortunately, passed away.
According to New York police reports, Mateo Solís Tlalpachitoc lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday, July 2.
He was stabbed near his home, around St. Nicholas Ave. and W. 185th St. in Washington Heights.
The Mexican cook was with his wife when he got into an argument at the «Taco Inn» restaurant on St. Nicholas Ave.
Two people waited for the couple to leave. Mateo was stabbed in the back with a knife.
Javier confessed that he saw his brother, Mateo Solís Tlalpachitoc, try to cross the street but he collapsed.
«We moved here to seek a better future. (Mateo) came here to achieve a better life,» Javier commented.
The Mexican cook left behind two children, a four-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy, who are with relatives in Mexico.
So far, the motive for Mateo’s murder is unknown.
