Minutes later, the figure was adjusted to 5.4 magnitude.

Oaxaca’s Civil Protection urged residents to remain calm.

This is due to the interaction between the Cocos Plate and the North American Plate.

The accumulation of energy between these plates frequently triggers earthquakes.

The National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED) issued safety recommendations for seismic activity.
