- Who died?
Princes William and Harry are mourning the unexpected death of their uncle, Robert Fellowes, former private secretary to Queen Elizabeth II.
The news was confirmed through an obituary published on Wednesday in The Times although the causes of his death were not revealed.
Fellowes, husband of Lady Jane Spencer Fellowes, sister of Princess Diana, was praised by his brother-in-law, Charles Spencer, who expressed his regret in a post on X:
“My brother-in-law Robert (Fellowes), who is absolutely exceptional, is no longer with us.”
A DIFFICULT YEAR FOR THE ROYAL FAMILY

“An absolute gentleman, in the best sense of the word, he was a man of humor, wisdom and absolute integrity. I am deeply proud to have been his brother-in-law,” he added.
Robert Fellowes and Lady Jane have three children: Alexander, Eleanor and Laura.
Fellowes’ loss comes on top of a particularly difficult year for the British royal family.
In February, King Charles III was diagnosed with cancer, according to USA Today.
A month later, in March, Kensington Palace announced that Princess Kate had also been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing preventative chemotherapy treatment.
Princess Kate, who has bravely faced her illness, posted a new photo in June thanking the support she has received during her treatment.
She revealed that although she is «not out of danger», she is making progress.
The death of Robert Fellowes is a further blow to the royal family, which has been grappling with a number of health challenges and personal losses this year.
