According to initial reports, Lisa López-Galván, a mother of two from Johnson County, was a beloved disc jockey in Kansas City.

«Very sad. Prayers for the family, especially the two children. On another note, that means the man who was bleeding out and receiving CPR in the leaked video survived,» one person commented.

«I am so sorry the evil of today’s world has taken you. God bless you and your family. Another senseless crime,» added another commenter.

«I am so sorry to hear of your passing. Though I know you now, you deserved so much better. Prayers to your family and friends and to all who knew you,» mourners posted on her Facebook page.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas shared his personal experience during the incident, saying that he too had to run when he heard the shots.

While he praised the police presence, especially in the vicinity of the station and on rooftops, Lucas lamented the reality that «this is what happens with guns.»

«I think that’s something that all of us who are parents, who are just regular people living each day, have to decide what we wish to do about,» Lucas said.

Gun violence once again leaves its mark on a community celebration, raising questions about safety at public events.

«Parades, rallies, schools, movies. It seems like almost nothing is safe,» Lucas continued, according to The Associated Press.

The White House reported that U.S. President Joe Biden has received a detailed report on what happened.

It is worth mentioning that Kansas City has long struggled with gun violence.

In 2023, the city tied a record with 182 homicides, most of which involved firearms.
