Leslie Cota was shot to death in a strange incident for which the authorities still don’t have a motive or a suspect. The Casa Grande Police Department (CGPD, in Arizona, is currently investigating the murders of 18-year-old Leslie Cota and 17-year-old Danielle Murietta.
According to the CPGD report, consulted by MundoHispanico, on Sunday, April 24 at 8:30 p.m., 911 received several calls alerting the police to a shooting taking place at an apartment complex where two young people had been badly injured.
Who shot Leslie Cota and Danielle Murietta to death?
Several patrol cars were sent to The Sonoran Apartments at 344 North Pottebaum Road in the southeastern part of Casa Grande, Arizona. They found several young people gathered and in shock after the brutal shooting.
CGPD officers found a young woman whose friends were her giving first-aid in a car. The young woman had been very badly injured in the shooting. When officers arrived on the scene, the girl identified as Leslie Cota was already dead.
Police arrive at the scene of the brutal shooting
The CGPD officers found another Hispanic girl who had also been badly injured by several bullets lying behind the car where Leslie Cota was killed. The officers immediately requested paramedics.
Paramedics from the Casa Grande Fire Department (CGFD) took the second badly injured girl to Valley Hospital hoping to save her life. The young woman was identified as17-year-old Danielle Murrieta.

However, Danielle Murietta passed away in the emergency room due to the severity of her injuries. Only Leslie Cota and Danielle Murrieta were killed in the shooting. None of the other young people who were gathered at the apartment complex were hurt.
Detectives from the GPD Homicide Division showed up at the scene of the crime. Detectives recovered more than 30 shell casings from a .9-millimeter caliber weapon which was used to kill Leslie Cota and Danielle Murrieta. Detectives interviewed the other juveniles at the scene.
Who was driving the Chrysler 300?
According to multiple witnesses, several young people were gathered at the apartment complex when suddenly someone in a Chrysler 300, perhaps gray or silver, arrived at the scene and got out of the vehicle. The attacker pulled out a gun and unloaded a hail of bullets.
The Chrysler 300 in which the girls’ killer had arrived had tinted windows, chrome wheels, and marks on the driver’s side doors as if it had been involved in an accident. The GPD Homicide Division doesn’t know if the shooter had an accomplice.
The police ask for help to solve the brutal crime
The city of Casa Grande in Arizona is a town located on the I-10 highway between Tucson, to the south, and Phoenix, to the north. Just under 56,000 people live in Casa Grande and 39 out of 100 residents are Hispanic. Almost all have family ties to Mexico.
Now the detectives of the CGPD Homicide Division are asking the Hispanic community that, if anyone knows the identity and whereabouts of the murderer of Leslie Cota and Danielle Murrieta, to contact their offices at 520.421.87. All tips will remain anonymous.
