HE ADMITTED THE UNTHINKABLE TO POLICE! Residents of Ohio were shaken by the brutal death of a 14-month-old baby. According to the New Philadelphia authorities, a 19-year-old father left his baby in a hot car for more than five hours. After saying it was just a moment, police said his story was inconsistent and doubts began to arise.
The deaths of children in hot cars has been increasing in recent years. In last few months, there have been more than three cases where children under five years of age have lost their lives due to the carelessness of their parents or guardians who forgot them in vehicles.
OHIO FATHER GUILTY OF MURDER
Grief quickly turned to rage as it became clear what was initially thought to be an accident, was intentional. The community of New Philadelphia, Ohio, received the news that a 14-month-old baby was ‘killed’ by his father who left him in a car for more than five hours despite the high temperatures.
Landon Parrott, 19, was watching the baby when the tragedy occurred. The young man left the child in the car and went inside his house despite the heat. He admitted to police that he did it on purpose.
Did he lie about it?
At first, Landon Parrott stated that he had left the child for a short period of time to go to the bathroom but the authorities began to notice the inconsistencies in his statements that made them suspect his 19-year-old father, according to a statement they posted on Facebook.
“During the initial investigation the Detectives found inconsistent information being given by the father. As the investigation continued and evidence was collected, the father was confronted with the new information and confessed to detectives what had happened to his son,” New Philadelphia police reported.
How did police find out that the child died?
According to the New Philadelphia police, Landon Parrott took his son to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police were notified at that point. Authorities questioned Parrott and he declared that he had gone to the bathroom for a short time. When confronted with the facts, he finally told the truth.
“On September 1, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., the New Philadelphia Police were notified by the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital that a 1-year-old boy was brought to the emergency room by his father and did not respond,”the police reported in the press release they issued to the public, after the child’s death was announced.
What did Landon Parrott say?
The boy, who was identified as Kyler Parrott, was in the care of Landon Parrott when the tragedy occurred. Landon left the child so that he would not be «disturbed» while he was spending time inside his home, not caring that the temperature was around 87 degrees.
“The child passed away after being left in the car unattended for approximately 5 hours, with an outside temperature of 87 degrees. During the interview it appears that this was not a matter of forgetting the child but was a deliberate act so as the child would not be a disturbance while in the house,» authorities said.
