Karol G won her first American Grammy on Sunday for Best Música Urbana Album for Mañana Será Bonito.
«I’m super happy, I’m super nervous, I’m super excited to be in front of so many legends that I admire and respect,» Karol G said after receiving the award.
The Colombian artist received the Grammy from her compatriot, singer Maluma, and Christina Aguilera.
Karol G beat out reggaeton artist Rauw Alejandro and his album Saturno, as well as Puerto Rican composer and producer Tainy with his debut solo album Data.
Karol G’s Grammy win makes history
In November 2023, Karol G triumphed at the Latin Grammy Awards by winning the award for Best Album of the year for the same title.
She also won two other awards for Best Urban Album and Best Urban Fusion/Performance.
Carolina Giraldo Navarro, better known as Karol G, received her first nomination for the American Grammy two years ago with her album KG0516.
However, she ultimately lost to Puerto rapper Rican Bad Bunny, who won the award for Best Urban Music Album for El Último Tour del Mundo.
Mañana Será Bonito is an award-winning album
Karol G’s Grammy win! Mañana Será Bonito features collaborations with various artists such as Romeo Santos, Shakira and Spanish Quevedo.
On it, the Colombian singer tells her story of overcoming heartbreak.
The awards took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and recognized the best music released between October 1, 2022, to September 15, 2023.
Earlier, at the pre-Grammy gala, Mexican artist Peso Pluma also took home his first Grammy.
Dua Lipa opens the Grammys

This year, Dua Lipa was nominated for two more Grammys for ‘Dance The Night,’ from the soundtrack of Greta Gerwig’s film Barbie.
«It’s incredible,» Dua Lipa had said on the red carpet about the dominance of female talent in the main categories of this year’s awards.
Sza was the most nominated artist of the night

This year’s award ceremony was hosted for the fourth consecutive year by Trevor Noah.
Music released between October 1, 2022, and September 15, 2023 was eligible.
Sza, who also took the stage on Sunday, is the most nominated artist of the night with nine nominations fro her album SOS. She was followed by Phoebe Bridgers and Victoria Monét with seven each.
Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, boygenius, Miley Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo received six nominations, the same number as Jon Batiste.
