According to ‘AP‘, the Vice President has secured enough delegate votes to become the official Democratic presidential candidate.

The information was announced by Jaime Harrison of the Democratic National Committee.

It’s important to note that the Democratic virtual voting ends on Monday at 6 PM Eastern Time, but she has already gathered the necessary votes, i.e., 1,976 delegates.

Kamala Harris is now the official Democratic candidate for the U.S. presidency, making her the first woman of color to achieve this honor.

«I am honored with the Democratic nomination,» expressed the candidate in a phone call.

«We will demonstrate the strength of the party and our movement,» assured Jaime Harrison.

The Democratic Convention is just around the corner

Democratic delegates began voting via email starting Thursday, and the voting will be open until Monday afternoon.

Kamala Harris has not yet selected a running mate but is expected to interview several candidates over the weekend.

The Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago in two weeks, where the official nomination ceremony will take place.
