Brothers Justin and David Hernández drove from California to Miami, Florida with 10,000 fentanyl pills hidden in a spare tire
However, upon reaching their destination they were arrested.
The Miami-Dade Police Organized Crime Division reported the arrest of brothers Justin Hernández, 19, and David Hernández, 22.
The brothers were caught in a sting by undercover police who arranged to buy the drugs on May 29.
The brothers hid the fentanyl in a spare tire
«These individuals traveled cross-country and met with our detectives at a predetermined location, not knowing that the detectives were police officers,» explained Detective Ángel Rodríguez, spokesperson for the Miami-Dade police.
David Hernández was in charge of setting up the deal. He convinced his brother to help him drive and said he would pay him $5,000.
The deal was simple, the brothers would get the 10,000 fentanyl pills, travel to Florida and there they would receive $10,000 dollars for the merchandise.
They arrived at the agreed upon location, unaware that they were taking the detectives’ bait.
Justin and David Hernández will have to face the consequences
Once at the delivery location, the Hernández brothers removed a tire from their Chevrolet Silverado.
They removed four bags of pills.
The bags were vacuum sealed and contained M30 fentanyl pills, the arrest report detailed.
«This operation is proof of the exemplary work MDPD is doing to stop the Fentanyl epidemic that is affecting so many in our community,» MiamiMayor Daniella Levine Cava said in a statement.
Now the brothers are behind bars
According to NBC 6, they had hidden four bags of M30 fentanyl in the tire.
It had a total weight of 1,050 grams, with a market value of more than $400,000.
Now the Hernández brothers are behind bars.
Justin and David Hernández have been charged with fentanyl trafficking and are being held $500,000 bond.
