Last Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 12:25 a.m. the Houston emergency number received a report of a shooting.
Several patrols of the Houston Police Department (HPD) went out into the rainy night to cover the emergency.
HPD officers responded to the parking lot of a Fiesta Supermarket, 175 Edgebrook Drive, very close to Hobby Airport.
Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department (HFD) also attended the scene to assist the injured.
Paramedics were unable to help Terrence Bruner
HFD paramedics found Terrence Bruner sitting in the passenger seat of a car, severely wounded by at least one gunshot wound.
However, when paramedics examined the badly injured man, they could do nothing to help him and he was declared dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division officers then responded to the parking lot to investigate the details of the crime in the middle of the night.
The first patrol cars from the corporation that arrived at the scene already had the young Julián Giovanni Vázquez in custody for investigation.
The young Hispanic man was arrested at the crime scene
Julian Giovanni Vazquez admitted to HPD detectives that he was in the car with Terrence Bruner when the shooting occurred.
What Julián Giovanni Vázquez did not say was his relationship with the other man, what the two were doing in the car or why the gun suddenly came out.
Based on the testimony of Julián Giovanni Vázquez and other forensic evidence, HPD officers accused the Hispanic of the shooting.
Judge Brian Warren of the 209th Criminal District Court in Harris County will be in charge of the case against Julian Giovanni Vazquez.
For the authorities, the case is still under investigation
Julian Giovanni Vazquez is already in custody and charged at the Harris County Jail but the case is still open for HPD officers.
Homicide detectives know that Julian Giovanni Vazquez and Terrence Bruner were together in the white KIA SUV.
In the parking lot, officers found no direct evidence of the shooting, so they believe the crime occurred elsewhere near the Fiesta Supermarket.
Investigators from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office are also working with HPD on the investigation into the strange crime.
