  • Capitol case moves forward.

In a decisive ruling, federal judge Tanya Chutkan on Saturday, August 3, rejected a new request from former President Donald Trump.

This request aimed to dismiss the case against him regarding the 2021 Capitol assault.

The Republican candidate argued he was a victim of political persecution by the Biden Administration.

Trump’s defense had presented news articles detailing Biden’s frustration with the slow pace of judicial cases against the former president.

According to the former US president, these articles purportedly demonstrated that his indictment was politically motivated, as reported by ‘EFE’ agency.

«There is no indication that President Biden has ever expressed such comments to the Attorney General or the Department of Justice,» Chutkan wrote in her ruling.

«Much less that such comments resulted in politically motivated actions,» she added, rejecting Trump’s petition.

The Republican faces charges in the federal court of the District of Columbia for conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

As well as for inciting the Capitol assault in January 2021. This attack aimed to halt the transfer of power.

The case was on hold for eight months as Donald Trump appealed to the Supreme Court, claiming judicial immunity for actions taken while president.

Additionally, last month the Supreme Court ruled that former presidents have immunity for «official acts» performed while in office.

Leaving it to lower courts to determine if Trump’s actions after the election were part of his presidential duties.

The Capitol assault case is one of four criminal charges Donald Trump faces.

In May, he was found guilty in New York of falsifying business records, though sentencing has yet to be announced.

Additionally, in Georgia, Trump is accused of leading a racketeering scheme to overturn the 2020 election results in that state.

Also, in Florida, he was accused of illegally withholding classified documents upon leaving the White House, but that case was dismissed by a judge last month.

This denial of the dismissal request underscores the commitment to proceed with the case and ensure that justice prevails.

Former President Donald Trump has maintained his position that these accusations are part of a «witch hunt» against him.

However, the courts have continued with the cases, seeking clarity and justice in each instance.

The January 2021 Capitol assault was one of the most impactful events in recent US history.

With this latest ruling by Judge Tanya Chutkan, the intention to conduct a fair and transparent trial is reaffirmed.

The implications of this case are significant, not only for Trump but also for the future of the American judicial and political system.

Judge Chutkan’s decision is another step in a complex and highly publicized process that will continue to unfold in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Trump continues to face multiple legal and political challenges, with his allies defending his innocence and his detractors demanding justice.
