Police are searching the area near Lexington, Kentucky, for a 32-year-old man described as «armed and dangerous.»
On Saturday afternoon, the suspect opened fire on «multiple people» on a highway, according to EFE.
The police in London, the town closest to the shooting location, identified the suspect as Joseph Couch.
He reportedly fled in a blue Ford truck with a silver roof, according to local outlet Lex 18 News.

Authorities urged the public to call a hotline with any information on Couch’s whereabouts.
For unknown reasons, Joseph Couch began shooting from a wooded area or an overpass late in the afternoon.

The shooting targeted vehicles traveling on Interstate 75 near exit 49.
Kentucky State Police told the Courier Journal that the attack impacted «between four and six victims,» though it’s unclear if there were fatalities or just injuries.
What happened to Joseph Couch?
On social media, it was reported that the shooter had previously been charged with «third-degree terroristic threatening» on February 8, 2024, but was released.
The only image from the scene shows several cars either stopped or abandoned in the middle of the highway, doors left open, suggesting a hurried escape.
Local police closed that section of the highway and redirected traffic, while authorities issued several warnings to avoid the area.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear asked on his X account for prayers for everyone involved in the shooting.

Shortly after the Kentucky freeway shooting, while attending a Democratic Party dinner, Governor Beshear stated that Americans shouldn’t have to live in fear of being shot while driving over a bridge.
«We must do better,» he said, referencing the ongoing debate over gun control.
The issue remains controversial, with Republicans and some Democrats opposing restrictions on gun ownership, viewing it as a constitutional right.
