GOOD NEWS FOR THE PRESIDENT! The U.S. President, Joe Biden, is viewed more favorably internationally than his rival, former President Donald Trump (2017-2021).

Biden surpassed him by 15 percentage points in favorability level, according to a Pew Research Center survey released this Tuesday.

An average of 43% of respondents in the 34 countries with available data trust that Democrat Biden will do the right thing in world affairs.

However, both contenders generally receive negative ratings in most Latin American countries.

Thus, Trump faces a distrust level of 86% in Mexico, 67% in Colombia and Argentina, and 64% in Brazil.

Meanwhile, 60% of Mexicans surveyed do not trust Biden, as do 53% of Argentinians, 51% of Brazilians, and 45% of Colombians.

In general, the U.S. president has seen the level of trust decline since last year in 14 countries, including Israel, Australia, South Africa, and Japan.

How is Joe Biden Viewed Around the World?

He is also not doing very well with majorities in six of the ten European countries surveyed who do not trust his performance in tackling global problems.

Including 56% of respondents in France, 61% in Spain, and 59% in the United Kingdom.

But Trump fares worse in those three countries, with 83% of the French respondents not trusting him, 78% of the Spanish, and 69% in the United Kingdom.

Biden receives relatively positive ratings in most of the surveyed Sub-Saharan African nations.

They Don’t Like Donald Trump!

While Trump receives his highest trust ratings in the Philippines (68%) and Nigeria (63%).

About half or more in Ghana, Israel, Kenya, and Thailand also express confidence in him.

Trump achieved higher favorability than Biden in Hungary and Tunisia (although opinions about both leaders are relatively negative in these countries).

In eight countries, there are no significant differences in opinions about Biden and Trump.

What’s Happening in the United States?

The survey also included a question about the general opinion of the United States.

More than half of the adults in the majority of the 34 surveyed countries express a favorable opinion of the country with an average of 54%, while 31% have an unfavorable opinion.

Opinions about the United States have become less positive among some notable allies since last year.

«But in Colombia, Chile, Ghana, and Peru, the proportion of people who have a positive opinion has increased since the last time we asked this question in 2017,» explained the study.

Greater Acceptance for the United States and Joe Biden?

Hungarians and Kenyans have also become slightly more positive about the United States since last year.

Poles are the most positive (86% favorable), while adults in Tunisia (87% unfavorable).
