Jesús Saldaña and Christopher Torres were arrested for allegedly shooting two other Hispanic men to death. The Garland Police Department (GPD) announced the arrest of Jesús Saldaña, 21, and Christopher Torres, 22, for the murders that occurred at a party.

The suspects, Jesús Saldaña and Christopher Torres, have been charged with murder. According to Texas State Penal Code the charge of homicide, like the one faced by the two young men, is punishable by a sentence of 20 to 99 years if they are found guilty.

Jesús Saldaña and Christopher Torres are accused of double murder

The crime report, consulted by Mundo Hispánico in Texas, details that on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 11:45 p.m., several neighbors called the GPD emergency number to report a large shooting at a party where young people were gathered.

Troopers were dispatched to the home at 800 Magnolia Drive, northeast of the Garland metro area in North Texas, where they found a chaotic scene. Several young men were lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds.

A conflict over a car sparked the brutal shooting on the street

On the ground outside the house, the officers found a young man identified as José Damián García, 18, with several bullet wounds. The GPD officers could no longer do anything for García and declared him dead at the scene.

The officers found another 17-year-old boy who had also been shot several times. The boy has not been identified by the authorities, as he did not carry ID. Two more young men were injured, however, these boys’ injuries were not serious and they were taken to a local hospital.

Detectives from the GPD Homicide Division were sent to the scene to investigate the double homicide. It was during this investigation that the names of Jesús Saldaña and Christopher Torres emerged as the alleged perpetrators.

Detectives from the GPD Homicide Division discovered that Jesús Saldaña and Christopher Torres had a conflict with their other rivals over a car parked on the street. The conflict escalated until Saldaña and Torres drew their weapons and fired them at the other boys.

Police ask the Hispanic community for help

Several GPD officers managed to detain Jesús Saldaña and Christopher Torres in the area before they escaped. Dozens of party attendees were at the scene of the shooting and several offered details of the crime to Homicide Division detectives.
