GOODBYE TO EUROPE. Within hours of embarking on President Joe Biden’s trip to Europe, it was announced that White House press secretary Jen Psaki tested positive for COVID-19 this morning. Psaki released the news through social networks where she stated that she will remain in isolation and work from home until she tests negative again.
President Joe Biden will be traveling to Europe to meet with European allies and discuss the situation between Ukraine and Russia. Jen Psaki was supposed to accompany him on the trip. Now, Chris Meagher will be in charge of White House communications until the press secretary’s isolation period ends.
NOT GOING TO EUROPE!
On Tuesday, Jen Psaki confirmed through social media that she had tested positive for COVID. This happened just hours before President Joe Biden’s trip to Europe to meet with European allies and discuss the war between Russia and Ukraine. For the time being, Psaki will not be making the trip.
Chris Meagher will be in charge of press conferences in her absence. It was Jen Psaki herself who announced the news on Twitter. At the moment, it is known that the press secretary’s symptoms are mild and she thanked the vaccines for preventing her illness from being worse.
Are they canceling the trip?
President Joe Biden will be traveling to Europe to meet with European allies and discuss the war between Ukraine and Russia. They will also be discussing how the conflict between the two countries is affecting the rest of the world. For this reason, the White House press secretary took a COVID-19 test, which came back positive. She released the news in a tweet.
“Today, in preparation for travel to Europe, I took a PCR test this morning. That test came back positive, which means that I will be adhering to CDC guidance and no longer be traveling on the president’s trip to Europe,” the White House spokeswoman tweeted. She had been scheduled to leave for Europe in a couple of days. Filed Under: Jen Psaki COVID Positive
Is the president at risk?

Has the president also been tested?
With the news of the press secretary’s positive Covid test, the president’s office is following safety protocols to contain the infection. They established who Psaki had contact with in recent days and those people are all being tested. The president underwent a PCR test to rule out any contagion days before the trip.
“I am sharing the news of my positive test today out of an abundance of transparency. The president tested negative today via PCR test,” Psaki reported in a tweet. The White House press secretary stated that she was not exhibiting serious symptoms and stated that she had been at a considerable distance from President Biden. Filed Under: Jen Psaki COVID Positive
Jen Psaki has mild symptoms?
White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, announced that she has only experienced mild symptoms since testing positive and stressed that she had received two doses of the Covid vaccine plus the booster. In addition, she reported that, due to White House protocols, she will be working from home and will remain in isolation for about five days before taking another test to see if it comes back negative.
“Thanks to the vaccine, I have only experienced mild symptoms” stressed the White House spokeswoman in the tweet. “In alignment with White House COVID-19 protocols, I will work from home and plan to return to work in person at the conclusion of a five-day isolation period and a negative test,” she concluded.
Has she already been replaced?
Shortly after announcing the news of her positive test, Jen Psaki confirmed that her colleague, Chris Meagher, will be taking over White House press conferences in her absence. According to journalist, Matt Viser, Meagher had not been prepared for the conference. Shortly after, Psaki confirmed this, saying it was a last-minute announcement.
“A complete professional and great colleague. Thanks to @chrismeagher46 for jumping in today with hardly any notice. (Also sorry the podium is so low),” Jen Psaki tweeted in response to Matt Viser. “’As you can see, things are moving quickly around here today… which is why I’m here,’ says @chrismeagher46, minutes after @PressSec announced she tested positive for COVID,” Viser reported.
