The recent arrest of another international student by ICE at the University of Minnesota has sparked strong criticism.
As well as renewed concern over anti-immigrant policies under the Trump administration.
The incident, which occurred off the main campus, has alarmed the university community.
University President Rebecca Cunningham described the arrest as «deeply concerning» and emphasized that the institution does not cooperate with federal authorities on immigration matters.

“These actions are an affront to our civil liberties and the principles of academic freedom,” the union stated.
“International students are a cornerstone of our academic and union community,” they added.
“We will not stand idly by or allow their rights to be trampled,” the statement concluded.
They stressed that international students are a vital part of the academic ecosystem whose civil rights must be protected.
This case joins a growing number of similar ICE detentions at other US universities, reportedly tied to students’ political involvement and social activism.
The reactions of local political figures, including Governor Tim Walz and Senator Amy Klobuchar, reflect widespread concern and a call for transparency from the Department of Homeland Security.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s comments underscored a more restrictive stance toward international students.
Especially if they are engaged in activities deemed contrary to U.S. foreign policy.
The arrest has sparked a wider debate on the rights of international students.
As well as their academic freedom, and the limits of federal authority regarding student visas and political activity in the U.S., according to Univision.
