The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued a crucial warning.
Hurricane Beryl could impact the southern coast of Texas.
The uncertainty about its trajectory and intensity over the western Gulf of Mexico this weekend has meteorologists on high alert.
The meteorological phenomenon has already left a trail of death and destruction in its wake.
WHICH AREAS COULD HURRICANE BERYL REACH?
Chief meteorologist at AccuWeather, Jonathan Porter, explained that the risk of a direct impact from Beryl is low in areas like Panama City, Florida, and New Orleans.
However, the risk is significantly higher from Corpus Christi to Brownsville, Texas.
“That southern part of the Texas coast is the area we need to watch closely,” Porter emphasized.
The NHC also issued key messages about the possible devastating consequences of Hurricane Beryl.
MESSAGES ISSUED AHEAD OF THE HURRICANE’S ARRIVAL
In its key messages, the NHC warned that hurricane-force winds, storm surge, and destructive waves are expected in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands on Wednesday and Wednesday night.
Residents are urged to follow preparation and evacuation orders from local officials.
Additionally, authorities anticipate heavy rains and life-threatening flash floods in much of Jamaica and southern Hispaniola through Wednesday night.
Beryl could maintain its hurricane strength as it approaches the Yucatán Peninsula and Belize on Thursday night. The center would issue additional warnings.
The latest advisory from the NHC indicates that Beryl’s eye is moving rapidly west-northwest south of Hispaniola.
It is expected to bring life-threatening winds and storm surge to Jamaica on Wednesday and the Cayman Islands on Wednesday night and Thursday.
Areas currently under hurricane warning include Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac.
Additionally, the southern coast of Haiti, from the border with the Dominican Republic to Anse d’Hainault, is under a hurricane alert.
The southern coast of the Dominican Republic and Haiti are also under a tropical storm warning.
Recently, it was announced that Hurricane Beryl had already caused fatalities.
Interests in other parts of the northwest Caribbean, including the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico and Belize, should closely monitor Beryl’s progress, according to the NHC.
The community on the southern coast of Texas must be on high alert and prepared for a possible direct impact from Beryl. Nature does not wait, and preparation is vital!
