According to Reuters, Hurricane Beryl has intensified into a very dangerous Category 4 storm in the Atlantic Ocean.
They reported that it is expected to bring potentially deadly winds and flash floods to the Windward Islands of the Caribbean.
In response, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) provided updates on this natural phenomenon.
«The first hurricane of the 2024 season was located about 350 miles (565 kilometers) east-southeast of Barbados on Sunday morning, with maximum sustained winds of 130 mph (215 kph),» they reported.
Hurricane Beryl Gains Strength
Beryl is a Category 3 hurricane, out of 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, with maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (115 miles).
However, it is expected to reach the Windward Islands as a Category 4, revealed EFE.

The NHC, based in Miami (Florida), reported in its latest bulletin a hurricane alert for most of the Windward Islands.
It also issued a tropical storm threat for Martinique and Dominica.
What Is the Hurricane’s Path?
The system, moving at 33 kilometers per hour (21 miles) westward, was located 675 kilometers east-southeast (420 miles) of Barbados, according to the latest NHC bulletin.
So far, two tropical storms have formed in the Atlantic hurricane season, which began on June 1.
These storms were named Alberto and Beryl, with the latter becoming the first hurricane of the season on Sunday.
This year, the Atlantic is expected to have a hurricane season well above average.
More Hurricanes on the Horizon?
Category 4 hurricanes are characterized by winds ranging between 130 and 156 MPH, posing a significant risk to areas in their path, indicated WINK NEWS.
There is a possibility of up to thirteen hurricanes this year, with up to seven being major hurricanes, according to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
The forecast suggests that this year could see a total of 17 to 25 storms, with maximum sustained winds above 62 kilometers per hour.
The NHC has predicted rapid strengthening of Beryl in the coming days, with information from EFE.
