For ten years, Michael Romero served as a pastor at First Baptist Church from 2002 to 2012. He told the Magnolia Police Department about his crimes.

His indictment states that he admitted to inappropriately touching at least five minors between the ages of 14 and 16. He noted that the incidents occurred at meetings, sleepovers and youth group retreats during his time with the church.

After turning himself in to the Magnolia Police Department, Michael Romero described his crimes. He admitted sleeping in the same bed as several children from the church during camp, in addition to being the only adult supervising them.

According ABC 13, investigators contacted the pastor’s alleged victims and three claimed not to remember the abuse. However, two of them said they remembered the incidents, declaring that they had been «cuddled hard and groped» by the pastor. He is currently in jail and his bail is set at $50,000.
