In Texas, the Hispanic community is shocked by the tragic death of the three sisters who could not escape the flames in their home.
Hispanics Ana Julia Melara Zelaya, 8, Julisa Adamari Melara Zelaya, 11, and Evelen Del Carmen Melara Zelaya, 15, died on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
At the time of writing, authorities have not revealed the cause of the fire that killed the three Hispanic sisters.

The emergency number in Houston, Texas, received a call at 5:44 a.m. to report a raging fire in some apartments.
Several units from the Houston Fire Department (HFD) responded to the Monterra Condominiums.

At the intersection of Bissonnet Street and Beechnut Street in southwest Houston, several desperate Hispanic people were calling for help.
Officers from the Houston Police Department (HPD) also arrived to assist their HFD colleagues.
Several firefighters responded to the scene to control the fire at the Monterra Condominiums
According to testimonies from desperate people inside the apartment, the three Hispanic sisters were trapped in the fire.
After battling the raging flames until they could clear a path to enter the house, rescuers went in for the sisters.
However, when the HFD entered the home, they could no longer save Ana Julia Melara Zelaya, Julita Adamari Melara Zelaya, and Eyelen Del Carmen Melara Zelaya.
Outside the house, in a state of shock, was Meybis Evelen Zelaya, the mother of the three sisters, who managed to escape the fire.
The fire may have been caused by an electrical fault
An older brother of the Hispanic girls managed to get out of the house but attempted to go back in when he saw the girls couldn’t escape.
The flames were so intense that the brother could not help Ana Julia Melara Zelaya, Julita Adamari Melara Zelaya, and Eyelen Del Carmen Melara Zelaya.
When the HFD was able to extinguish the fire and remove debris, Fire Marshals, responsible for investigating fires, arrived at the scene of the tragedy.
The raging fire may have been caused by a fault in the house’s electrical system, according to witnesses, but the official cause is not yet known.
«Three beautiful girls… lost their lives»
Meybis Evelen Zelaya opened the account «Support Funeral Costs for Zelaya Family’s Loss» on GoFundMe to ask for community help.
«Please help us raise money for these three beautiful girls who sadly lost their lives in a fire,» the message details.
In the midst of her grief, Meybis Evelen Zelaya now has to ask for help «to pay for their funerals,» wrote the mother of the Hispanic sisters.
«Any donation helps. Thank you from the Zelaya family,» concludes the plea to bury the three young girls in Houston, Texas.
«My three angels are gone,» said the mother of the girls.
In an interview with KHOU-11 television in Houston, Meybis Evelen Zelaya spoke about the tragic death of the Hispanic sisters.
«My three angels are gone… this is incredibly hard, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone,» said the grieving mother of the three young girls.
According to HFD investigators, the brother who tried to rescue the girls was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries from his heroic act.
Religious and community leaders are organizing to help the family of the three Hispanic sisters after the terrible fatal tragedy.
