A 41-year-old man was sentenced to over 33 years for murdering his wife during a Bible study session in Minnesota.
Robert Castillo, 41, fatally stabbed his wife, Corinna Woodhull, after whispering in her ear and receiving a rejection to his request.
The tragic incident took place on March 21 at Castillo’s sister’s home during a weekly Bible study session.
Castillo pulled out a hunting knife and repeatedly attacked Woodhull until he was disarmed by members of his own family.

The defense argued that Robert Castillo could not remember the event due to drug- and alcohol-induced psychosis, requesting a 25-year sentence.
Despite his alleged memory loss, Castillo expressed remorse and took responsibility during his court appearance last Friday.
Judge Richard Kyle sentenced Castillo following his guilty plea to second-degree murder, which he submitted in March.
Prosecutor Dan Rait emphasized Castillo’s violent history, including eight prior felony convictions, one for assault in 2014.
Robert Castillo was under intensive supervised release and had an outstanding warrant for failing to attend a previous court hearing.
At the time of the attack, Castillo had a history reflecting a pattern of violent and repeat behavior.

The victim, Corinna Woodhull, was attacked after refusing a request that Castillo whispered in her ear.
Family members present managed to disarm Castillo, but tragically, Woodhull succumbed to the injuries caused by the attack.
The defense attempted to reduce Robert Castillo’s sentence by citing mental health issues, but the severity of the crime prevailed in the final decision.
In Minnesota, convicts serve two-thirds of their sentence in prison and the remainder under supervised release.
This case highlights the tragedy of domestic violence and the devastating impact it has on the families involved.
The local community is shocked by the incident, which took place in a space meant for faith and reflection.
