The conflict between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah appears to be escalating toward an all-out confrontation following a series of massive attacks by both sides.

On Sunday morning, Hezbollah launched over 100 rockets into northern Israel.

Some of the rockets landed near the city of Haifa, an area that had not been targeted in recent attacks, according to The Associated Press.

Israel responded with hundreds of airstrikes on Lebanese territory, hitting both military and civilian targets, as reported by local sources.

Hezbollah presented the rocket attack as retaliation for Israeli strikes in Lebanon.

In previous days, these strikes had killed dozens, including a high-ranking commander of the organization.

Israeli bombings also targeted Hezbollah’s communication devices, which the group described as an unprecedented blow.

In Israel, air raid sirens echoed throughout the northern region, forcing thousands of people to take shelter in bunkers.

What Areas Were Damaged?

In Kiryat Bialik, a city near Haifa, a rocket struck close to a residential building.

At least three people were injured, and significant damage was caused to structures and vehicles.

Israel responded quickly. The military conducted multiple airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon.

They claimed to have destroyed more than 400 militant sites, including rocket launchers.

What Was Israel’s Response?

Israeli military spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani stated that these strikes had thwarted a potentially larger attack, preventing more civilian casualties in Israel.

«Today we’ve seen that the fire has spread further than before into Israel,» the military spokesperson explained, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation, assuring that Israel would take all necessary measures to restore security in the northern region.

«No country can tolerate its cities being bombarded without control. We cannot accept it either,» he declared, making it clear that military operations would continue until the attacks cease.

Will Hezbollah Continue Its Attack?

On the other side of the border, Hezbollah legislator Hassan Fadlallah stated that the war had entered a «new phase.»

He emphasized that the militant group would not stop its attacks until a ceasefire is achieved in Gaza.

«We have strong and capable resistance,» Fadlallah said during the funeral of one of the group’s members killed in recent attacks.

Hezbollah has also responded with the use of new weapons. In a statement, the group claimed to have launched next-generation missiles, named Fadi 1 and Fadi 2.
