Peruvian football is in mourning after the tragic murder of Henry Colán, a renowned former footballer who defended the colors of Sport Boys, Sporting Cristal, and Universidad César Vallejo.

Colán, 41, lost his life in a shooting attack in the populous Barrios Altos sector, sparking consternation in the soccer community.

Radio station RPP and Latina Television confirmed that Colán was fatally shot six times, killing the soccer player that was part of notable clubs.

The Federación Peruana de Fútbol (FPF) expressed its sadness for the loss, regretting «the sad death of Henry Colán.»

Through a statement on social media, the FPF sent condolences to his loved ones and friends, adding an emotional «Rest in peace!»
