A heat wave has spiked temperatures this Wednesday in the northeast of the US.
It will persist throughout the rest of the week and affect about 75 million people, warned the National Weather Service (NWS).
The early arrival of summer, persistent heat over several days, light winds, and lack of clouds are factors exacerbating the danger of this heat wave.
According to the NWS, thermometers will mark the highest temperatures of the year so far in the Northeast US and the Midwest region.
Temperatures between 100 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit
The agency urged people who do not have air conditioning in their homes to find ways to cool off during this heat wave in the Northeast US.
Recommendations include drinking plenty of water, even if not thirsty, wearing loose, light-colored clothing, and never leaving people or pets in vehicles.

The Governor of New York announced that entry and parking will be free at all state parks, pools, and beaches.
Governor Katy Hochul stated this measure aims to help citizens combat the heat wave.
On the other hand, the city of Caribou, in the state of Maine in the US, recorded a historic high this Wednesday.
This location reached 103 degrees Fahrenheit (39.4 degrees Celsius), according to information from Efe.
In the state of Pennsylvania, about 14,000 people were left without electricity due to a storm.
This raised concerns about the lack of air conditioning.
To conclude, the heat wave is expected to reach the Southeast US over the weekend and early next week.
It would affect states such as Georgia, Alabama, or Florida.
While part of the country swelters from the heat, the southern coast of Texas began to experience flooding on Wednesday.
Tropical Storm Alberto is the first of the Atlantic hurricane season.
