A severe heat wave has put nearly 145 million residents in the United States on alert this week.

Covering most of the country with temperatures exceeding the seasonal norm.

From the East Coast to the West, the scorching heat is taking a toll, with advisories and warnings issued by the National Weather Service.

The Northwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Florida are experiencing significant increases in dew points, raising humidity and making body cooling difficult.

High Temperatures Forecast in the US

According to Michael Estime, meteorologist at FOX Weather, «anytime you see dew point temperatures in the 60s and 70s, it means it’s sticky, muggy, and humid.»

«It’s like stepping out of a hot shower and feeling all that moisture in the air,» added the weather expert.

Major cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and New York are under an Extreme Heat Watch.

With temperatures potentially reaching heat indices of 110 degrees through Tuesday.

In Pennsylvania, cities like Williamsport and State College are under Heat Advisories, warning residents of extreme conditions.

In New York, temperatures are expected to hit 94 degrees, according to FOX Weather.

However, meteorologists report that it will feel like 101 degrees due to high humidity.

Boston and Philadelphia are not far from hitting triple digits, with forecasts of 98 degrees and a heat index of 104, respectively.

Washington D.C. has seen consecutive days with temperatures above 97 degrees, marking one of the hottest summers on record.

The heat has also severely affected the western part of the country, especially California and Arizona.

Where multiple heat-related deaths have been reported with temperatures reaching up to 120 degrees.

Extreme Heat Warnings remain in effect for central and southern California, including cities like Fresno and Redding, where temperatures will stay in the triple digits.

Parts of Iowa and Nebraska are facing Extreme Heat Warnings with heat indices that could reach up to 114 degrees.

Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana are also under advisories, as reported by FOX Weather.

Additionally, heat indices in the triple digits are forecasted for cities like Oklahoma City, Little Rock, and Wichita through Tuesday.

In southeastern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina, including areas like Charlotte and Raleigh.

Heat indices are expected to reach up to 109 degrees, with some areas briefly exceeding 111 degrees.

Charlotte will see a peak heat of 99 degrees on Monday, with a slight relief towards the end of the week.

Local and state authorities are urging residents to take extra precautions, stay hydrated, and seek cool places.

The National Weather Service continues to monitor the situation closely, providing regular updates on the extreme temperatures, affirmed Fox Weather.
