A tragedy shook a graduation party held in Gwinnett County, Georgia, on the night of Saturday, June 8.

Terror struck when a woman was shot and killed by her ex-husband, according to authorities.

The celebration of immigrants from India was bloodstained in the blink of an eye, creating great shock.

Local authorities continue to conduct necessary investigations into the tragic incident.

The attack took place just before 7:30 p.m. at an event venue inside a shopping center on Stone Mountain Highway.

Police responded after receiving emergency calls and found the woman dead from a gunshot wound.

‘AJC’ media revealed that the suspect was detained by onlookers at the scene, and officers soon took him into custody.

Detectives are currently canvassing the area looking for witnesses to further clarify the case.

Authorities are investigating the motive behind this violent act, described as domestic by Officer Meyers.

«The victim and the suspect were previously married,» stated Meyers, noting that the identities of both will be revealed after notifying their relatives.

It is important to highlight that the name of the deceased will be published after their relatives have been notified.

On Sunday, the ‘Atlanta Journal-Constitution’ attempted to get comments from the scene but they refused to make any statements about it.

Another statement circulating on the official Facebook page of the Gwinnett County Police Department addressed the use of racist language.

The statement mentioned that they «are investigating several acts of vandalism that occurred in the center of Buford,» acts related to the tragedy in Gwinnett.

They noted that the suspects «sprayed racist language and hate speech on the doors of a dumpster».

This has caused great alarm in the community in Georgia following various acts of violence that have occurred in the state.
