BREAKING NEWS: Gunman shot dead near Republican National Convention

Milwaukee police reported that they shot dead an armed man who was a few miles from the site of the Republican National Convention.

Former President Donald Trump did not comment on the armed incident.

The events occur three days after the shooting that left the former president of the United States with a wound to his ear.

GUNMAN KILLED NEAR REPUBLICAN CONVENTION

Another attack on Donald Trump? Police officers shot dead a man armed with a knife on Tuesday, EFE reported.

Approximately one and a half kilometers from the venue where the Republican National Convention is held in Milwaukee (Wisconsin), according to various local media reports citing police sources.

The police officers, as an official detailed to The New York Post, belonged to the Columbus, Ohio, department.

And they were in Milwaukee because they were part of the 4,500 agents who help local authorities protect the city during the convention, which will end next Thursday.

WHAT DID THE AUTHORITIES REPORT?

Citing law enforcement sources, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the shooting occurred near North 14th and West Vliet streets.

Outside the security perimeter of the convention, which is held at Fiserv Stadium in this city in the state of Wisconsin.

A local television station, WISN 12 News, explained, citing witnesses, that there was a fight between two men in the city’s King Park neighborhood, and that police shot and killed one of the men.

Police officers were allegedly patrolling on bicycles and encountered a man with a knife and at least three officers fired shots.

Members of the Columbus, Ohio, police department were involved in the shooting that occurred within their assigned operational area, that city’s Fraternal Order of Police said in a statement.

The Columbus Police Department, as well as the Milwaukee mayor’s chief of staff, said there was nothing to suggest the shooting was related to the convention itself.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office said an adult man was shot and killed, The Associated Press reported .

An autopsy is scheduled for today.
