A six-year-old girl died after being hit by a vehicle in Pomona on Tuesday night.

Her name was Guadalupe Álvarez Salgado, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Her 19-year-old sister was seriously injured, according to ABC 7

The tragic incident occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Towne Avenue and Lexington Avenue.

Guadalupe Álvarez Salgado, affectionately known as ‘Lupita,’ was walking with her older sister, Mireya Álvarez, when they were struck.

Both girls were returning home with their mother after a trip to the store.

Police officers responding to the call found the two sisters on the road, seriously injured.

Mireya was rushed to the hospital, where she is expected to survive, but rescuers were unable to save Lupita.

The driver is cooperating with authorities

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with authorities.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

The tragedy occurred just steps from the victims’ home, plunging the community into deep sorrow.

Mireya’s parents are with her in the hospital as she recovers from her injuries.
