- Sueño millonario shares with you the story of Gonzalo Márquez.
- He was kidnapped, which completely altered his perspective of the world.
- The outcomes of that experience were not what he had anticipated.
Gonzalo Márquez’s story is not only one of overcoming obstacles but also of dealing with an encounter with crime that deprived him of his freedom.
When he arrived, he wasn’t in the best shape and lacked education. He had to work wherever he could.
The experience he recounts was what made him ponder whether to return to his country or not after being kidnapped, an event that marked him for the rest of his life but also helped him face adversity and problems.
He says that during the ordeal, he constantly felt the pressure of a gun against his body and was scared like he had never been before.
The Kidnapping
He mentions that the criminals thought he had a lot of money, but in reality, he didn’t. During those moments, he could overhear the criminals deciding his fate.
They discussed what they would do with him and whether they would kill him or not. They also subjected him to considerable psychological pressure.
What truly terrified him was when they threatened to kill his brother if he didn’t hand over the money that, according to them, Gonzalo had in his possession.
The kidnappers then said they would kill him because they were afraid Márquez would go to the police to report them, but the victim said that wouldn’t happen.
Handover of Money
Since the kidnappers were desperate to know what to do, they demanded that he hand over the money.
Unfortunately, Márquez didn’t have any money at that moment; he told them that what he had was in the bank.
He offered to go and withdraw it, but asked them not to harm his family. The kidnappers were very skeptical about this because they didn’t know if he would later go to the police.
He swore that wouldn’t happen. Everything was done as the kidnappers wanted, and they let him go.
Strength
Gonzalo Márquez had a satellite business that was the first of its kind for Hispanics in Georgia. That’s why they thought he was doing well financially and kidnapped him.
After being released, there were about three months where he didn’t want to leave his house. He thought about closing his business and going back, leaving behind what he had already built.
In his own words, he didn’t want to be a victim; he wanted to fight and move forward. And he succeeded better than ever. Another business world opened up for him, and he excelled.
