Alongside Claudia Rosas, Mónica Murr and Pilar Ramírez, Mary Boquitas and Gloria Trevi were part of the group Boquitas Pintadas.

Formed by Sergio Andrade in 1985, this girl band had a short career, lasting just one year in the music industry.

Shortly after, the music producer launched Gloria as a solo artist. Mary and Claudia were her backup singers for several years.

As La Trevi’s career progressed, María Raquenel Portillo (Mary Boquitas’ real name) grew very close to her.

The encounter between the singers

After being released from prison on charges of corruption of minors, Mary Boquitas and Gloria Trevi met again.

In an interview with the now-defunct Telemundo program Suelta la Sopa, Mary revealed more details about this encounter.

«I reached out to her. When we got out, which was really the last time we saw each other, then came two or three events where we crossed paths.»

The songwriter also said that they blocked some of her scenes in telenovelas because she would be acting with Gloria’s friends.

Once, she met a very good music producer she wanted to work with, but he replied that he had to ask Gloria first.

According to infobae, the singer sent a message to María Raquenel in an episode of her new series.

At the end of this episode, while being interviewed, Trevi said, «She had a lot of talent, learned to play the piano and bass.»
