Georgia police arrested a 12-year-old boy accused of making a threat at his school, just days after the tragic shooting at Apalachee High School.

This incident, which shocked the educational community in Jackson County, highlights growing concerns about school safety and student behavior.

According to statements from Jackson County Sheriff Janis G. Mangum, the incident occurred on Monday at Legacy Knoll Middle School.

The child was removed from his class after a threat he allegedly made came to light.

This is the second case in which a Jackson County student has been involved in threats following the Apalachee High School shooting.

On September 6, another 12-year-old student, this time from East Jackson Middle School, was detained after making similar threats.

In that case, the young boy was arrested at his home, questioned by authorities, and later transferred to the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center.

The charges he faces include making terroristic threats and disrupting school operations, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Mangum issued a statement emphasizing the seriousness of such actions and the responsibility parents have to educate their children about the consequences of their words and actions.

“As sheriff, I would like to emphasize and urge all parents to talk to their students about the importance of their words and actions,” Mangum said.

She also added that when shooting threats are made and supported by evidence, authorities will not hesitate to press formal charges against those responsible.
