According to The Associated Press, Michael Zack III, 54, was executed via lethal injection at Florida State Prison in Starke.
He was pronounced dead shortly after 6:14 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3.

What were his last words before the lethal injection?
The execution began precisely at 6:00 in the evening. When asked if he had any last words, Zack responded, «Yes, sir,» as reported by The Associated Press.
He then raised his head to address the witnesses and said, “I love you all.” He did not make any additional statements.
According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had signed Zack’s death sentence.
Zack’s lawyers attempted to halt the execution by arguing that he suffered from fetal alcohol syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder, according to the Daily Mail.
What were Michael Zack III’s crimes?
Michael Zack III was executed for the brutal murder of Ravonne Smith, a bar employee he had befriended, but who he later assaulted and fatally stabbed with an oyster knife in June 1996.
According to the The Associated Press, Zack was also separately convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Laura Rosillo, whom he had encountered in a different location in Florida.
Zack’s crime spree, which spanned nine days that year, began in Tallahassee, the state capital, where he was a regular patron at a local bar.
Police records indicate that when Zack’s girlfriend called to inform him that he was being evicted, a bartender at the bar offered to lend him his truck. Zack accepted the offer and left with the bartender, never to return.
He had a criminal history
After leaving Tallahassee, Zack drove to a bar in Niceville, located in the Florida Panhandle, where he befriended the owner of a construction company.
According to police records, the man discovered that Zack was living in his truck and kindly offered him a place to stay at his house.
During his time in Niceville, Zack stole two guns and $42. This was detailed in court records cited by The Associated Press.
At the age of 54, Zack admitted to the murder of Ravonne Smith. He testified that he became enraged and assaulted her when she made a comment about his sister murdering his mother.
