Mother gets upset about her son’s grades and abandons him on the highway
Flor Escalante is facing charges for abandoning her 12-year-old son on a Waukesha highway after an argument.

A mother from Waukesha, Wisconsin, was charged after police reported she left her 12-year-old son on the side of the interstate and drove away.
The incident occurred on Thursday, November 7, around 5:30 p.m. on I-94 near Calhoun Road.
The child was found walking alone, crying, and unable to provide the names of his parents, according to police scanner audio.
The temperature was around 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and vehicles were traveling at speeds of 70 miles per hour.
Flor Escalante Stops Car After Argument and Abandons Son on Highway
The accused, Flor Escalante, 43, was taking her son to Sylvan Learning Center when they began arguing about his grades.
Police said that during the argument, Escalante stopped the car, the boy got out, and she drove off.
Escalante told police she tried to return for her son but could not find him, so she decided to drive directly to Sylvan Learning Center.
Officers located the child and later arrested Escalante at Sylvan Learning.
Flor Escalante justified her actions by stating she wanted her son to learn «what work is» by walking nearly two miles to the educational center.
A family member, who chose to remain anonymous, assured FOX6 News that the children are safe and with relatives.

Escalante faces charges of child abandonment and neglect, with bail set at $500.
Her first court appearance in Waukesha County was on Friday, November 8.
