On the morning of Friday, April 26, there was a fiery crash in Pennsylvania.
The northbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 476) were closed at Macungie due to a multi-vehicle accident.
The incident occurred around 6 a.m. in a construction zone on the turnpike near Mill Race Road between Quakertown (Exit 44) and Lehigh Valley (Exit 56).

Fiery crash in Pennsylvania closes Turnpike

Among the vehicles involved were a state police car, a tractor-trailer and a third vehicle, according to ABC 6.
Images show the tractor-trailer engulfed in flames on the turnpike, creating a scene of devastation.

Similarly, one of their traffic reporters has begun suggesting alternative routes for drivers affected by the incident.
Alternative route recommendations

Drivers attempting to reach Allentown are advised to use Route 309 as an alternative while the situation on Interstate 476 is resolved.
To bypass the closed area, drivers can take State Highway PA-663 north until reaching State Highway PA-309 north.
From there, they can follow Route I-78 west to connect with Route PA-309 north, as pointed out by ABC 6.
The detour continues along US-22 west (Tilghman Street West) until reaching the Lehigh Valley interchange (Exits 56 /Old 33).
