This lack of unity and action left many in the region, and Del Rincón himself, frustrated and disillusioned.

«What happened at the OAS is shameful. Hypocritical governments that say things but don’t do them! It’s not the international community that has to resolve things, it’s you who have to resolve them,» Del Rincón said with obvious anger.

His condemnation was directed directly at the countries that did not support the resolution, and at the inter-American system in general, which he considered a failure in the face of the serious situation in Venezuela.

Del Rincón, who has closely followed the Venezuelan crisis for years, expressed deep pain and frustration, saying: “There is no consensus. What does this tell you? Venezuelans, what does this tell you? You know what? And I am sorry to tell you this.”

«It is not the international community that is going to resolve this, be clear, it is not. The inter-American system is a disgrace, the OAS is a disgrace, in the face of a situation like the one we are witnessing, that a consensus cannot be reached… it is a disgrace, it is the shameful countries that abstain from voting or vote against, they are a disgrace.»
