Hunter Biden’s ex-wife and an ex-girlfriend testified on Wednesday about his severe addiction and spending, as the U.S. president’s son faces trial.
This week, Hunter Biden’s trial commenced over allegations of falsely stating he was not an addict on a federal form for purchasing a firearm in 2018.
Kathleen Buhle, who was married to Biden for about 25 years and with whom he has three daughters, provided her testimony.
The ex-wife recounted the shocking moment she found a used crack pipe in an ashtray in July 2015.

She also described how her then-husband admitted to his addiction when confronted.
Furthermore, she detailed how she would search her husband’s vehicle for crack before allowing their daughters to use it to ensure they «were not in a car with drugs.»
After her testimony, the 12 jury members also heard from Zoe Kestan, another ex-girlfriend of Joe Biden’s son.
Zoe Kestan described Hunter as a charming spender who enjoyed the high life of parties in New York, according to The New York Times.
Zoe Kestan “Immediately Connected” with Hunter
Hunter Biden met Kestan at a men’s club in 2018 in New York, and according to the dancer, they «immediately connected.»
Kestan testified that she tried many times to help him stay sober.

She witnessed him smoking crack repeatedly, picking small crystals off a massive crack rock the size of a ping-pong ball.
Hunter Biden’s defense attempted to undermine the witness’s credibility by noting that while she encouraged him to stay clean, she also introduced him to drug dealers and allowed him to indulge in his vice.
Key in the Trial
Cleveland Gordon, the employee at the armory where Biden purchased the firearm in 2018, also took the witness stand on Wednesday.
Cleveland confirmed that Biden did not hesitate to answer «no» to the question of whether he was an unlawful user of or addicted to marijuana or any stimulant, narcotic, or any other controlled substance.
This question is crucial in this trial that started on Monday in Delaware.
The prosecution showed the jury the firearm, which was in an open box.
The charges against Hunter Biden result from an investigation that began in 2018 during Donald Trump’s administration.
The former president, a future Republican candidate for the November elections, has used this case to attack his opponent Biden.
The president’s son also faces another trial in California, where he is accused of evading the payment of $1.4 million in taxes.
