Erick Valencia Salazar is arrested again. He is also known as EL 85. He is the co-founder of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, or El Mencho. CJNG is one of the most powerful groups in Mexico, according to Infobae.

El 85 is considered one of the most bloodthirsty members of the organization and played a fundamental role in the group’s violence. He also had a prominent place in the hierarchy, so this is very important for the government. Ricardo Trevilla Trejo himself, chief of the General Staff, released the information.

The chief commented that the capture of this dangerous criminal was carried out in a joint task with the Army, the Guardia Nacional and other important departments. All this happened early Monday morning, but he did not specify more details about the arrest, or where Erick Valencia Salazar is now.

It should be remembered that on March 9, 2012 Salazar was arrested and after that there were roadblocks and vehicle fires. This happens when the authorities detain a person who is very ‘important’ to the organized crime group he belongs to. Is part of their response.

According to El Financiero Erick Valencia Salazar apparently received help from other leaders of rival cartels to bring down El Mencho. The authorities say that his arrest is for extradition purposes, so in a few days the fate of this criminal will be known, but it’s not know where is he now.

Everything indicates that El Mencho ‘betrayed’ Erick Valencia so he could have control of the CJNG, according to El Financiero. El Mencho would have handed him over to the authorities so he and his brother-in-law could take the reins of this powerful criminal organization that operates almost everywhere inMexico.

In mid-August, shootings and fires caused by drug cartels broke out in four states, killing 11 people, including a child and four employees of a radio station who were randomly shot in the streets of Ciudad Juárez, bordering El Paso, Texas.

Two days earlier, more than two dozen stores of a well-known national retail chain were burned down in the state of Guanajuato. In the neighboring state of Jalisco, cars and buses were set on fire. And some vehicles were burned on Friday in cities along the California border. Filed Under: Erick Valencia Salazar falls

The federal government deployed soldiers and elements of the Guardia Nacional to calm the pubic’s fears, but the outbreak of violence raised questions about President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s strategy of putting all responsibility for public security in the hands of the military in rather than in civilian police forces.

Some were quick to dismiss the arson and shootings as terrorism, though the government denied this. The Secretario de Gobernación (Interior), Adán Augusto López, stated that “these are not terrorist attacks; facts should not be magnified. «I think that the instruction they gave these hit men was to create chaos,» said Mexican security analyst Alejandro Hope. “Generating chaos, generates uncertainty, generates fear. Shoot anything that moves. That is generating terror.” Filed Under: Erick Valencia Salazar falls
