Authorities and government leaders in Mexico described the arrest of El Mencho’s wife as, «A hard hit on drug traffickers.» We’re talking about the day Rosalinda González Valencia was arrested. El Mencho is one of the most dangerous and wanted drug traffickers in Mexico and the United States.

Originally from Michoacán, and also known as «La Jefa» in the structure of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), together with her twelve brothers, she was in charge of organizing the administrative and financial base of the criminal group led by her husband Nemesio «El Mencho» Oseguera.

Rosalinda González Valencia comes from a large family. After her marriage to El Mencho, they were given the opportunity to work within the criminal group headed by her husband. Rosalinda, together with seven of her sisters, runs the businesses of the Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel.

According to Infobae the sisters are Noemí, Berenice, Marisa, Erika, María Elena, Abigail and Estela González Valencia, who took on an important role in the administration of the illicit businesses of the criminal group, especially after the arrest of their brothers: Ulises, Elvis , José and Abigael.

This family, affectionately nicknamed «Los Cuinis», have always been involved in drug trafficking. Their father, Armando Valencia Cornelio, better known by the nickname «Maradona», founded the dominant Milenio gang in the 1990a. That’s where, El Mencho, now head of the CJNG, began his criminal career.

Los Cuinis was led by Rosalinda’s older brother, Abigael González Valencia, better known as «El Cuini» or «El Cachetes». He and El Mencho began to smuggle synthetic drugs into the US and grew his empire.

However, the authorities began to focus their attention on El Mencho’s wife because it was said that she was the main strategist who orchestrated moves that she considered beneficial to her family and her business.

Companies, such as trade organizations, beauty and rejuvenation clinics, hotels, restaurants, fairs, among others, were some of these businesses that were used as a front. They were even considered one of the richest criminal organizations in Mexico, in partnership with the CJNG, according to Infobae.

For many years, thanks to her meticulous way of generating money, Rosalinda lived in one of the most luxurious neighborhoods in Guadalajara, Jalisco, without being harassed by the authorities. But in May 2018, she was stopped outside a grocery store.

Detained on an arrest warrant issued by a federal judge for organized crime for the purpose of money laundering, she was transferred from the Mexican Navy to Federal Prison No. 16, located in Morelos. She was only in prison for a few days. On September 8 of that year she was released after paying bail of 1.5 million pesos.

However, her last and most recent arrest was considered «a hard hit for drug traffickers» according to The Los Angeles Times. She was arrested at 6:58 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 and transferred by plane from Jalisco to Mexico City to avoid being rescued by armed men led by her husband.

She was then brought before judicial authorities at the Federal Center for Social Readaptation No. 16 “CPS Femenil Morelos” in Coatlán del Río, in the state of Morelos. Since Tuesday night, Zapopan and other surrounding cities had been on high alert for a possible attack by the CJNG in response to the arrest of Rosalinda González. However, La Jefa remains in prison and, according to La opinion, on January 18, 2022, her lawyers requested an injunction for their client, since El Mencho’s wife was being attacked in prison, however it was denied by the authorities and she will continue to do time.
