  • Brief hearing in Texas.
  • Next trial set for September 9.

Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada, co-founder of the powerful Sinaloa Cartel, is considered one of the most wanted drug traffickers by the US.

After his arrest alongside Joaquín Guzmán López, Zambada appeared before a federal judge in Texas last Thursday.

The 76-year-old drug trafficker appeared in a wheelchair, wearing a sweater with the motto «Carpe Diem» (seize the day, in Latin).

The hearing, held in El Paso, was brief and lasted less than ten minutes, according to the news agency ‘EFE’.

During the session, federal judge Kathlee Cardone provided an update on the case to Zambada’s lawyers and government representatives.

‘El Mayo’ Zambada was detained a week earlier in El Paso, after flying from Mexico, allegedly deceived and betrayed by the son of Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán.

The capture of the Mexican drug trafficker marks a significant milestone in the fight against drug trafficking in the United States and Mexico.

Zambada only uttered one word during the hearing: «yes,» in response to a question from the judge about whether he was aware of his lawyer’s conflict of interest.

Zambada’s lawyer had previously represented his son, Vicente ‘Vicentillo’ Zambada, who was sentenced to 15 years in the United States in 2019.

Vicentillo was released after cooperating with the prosecution in the case against ‘El Chapo.’ Judge Cardone scheduled the next hearing for September 9 in El Paso.

Zambada now faces around thirty charges in Texas, all related to drug trafficking and money laundering.

The appearance of ‘El Mayo’ in a wheelchair and wearing the sweater that said «Carpe Diem» has generated a lot of media buzz.

Many are questioning the health status of the kingpin and his defiant attitude towards justice.

Zambada’s arrest comes at a critical moment for the Sinaloa Cartel, which has faced numerous blows from authorities.

Additionally, the Sinaloa Cartel is considered one of the most powerful and violent in Mexico.

It has been responsible for countless acts of violence and drug trafficking internationally.

The arrest of ‘El Mayo’ Zambada could significantly impact the cartel’s structure and operations.

US authorities have worked for years to capture Zambada, who has evaded justice for decades.

His arrest and upcoming hearing represent a significant step in efforts to dismantle the Sinaloa Cartel’s operations.

Despite his advanced age, Zambada remains a key figure in global drug trafficking.

Mexican and US authorities continue to collaborate closely in the fight against drug trafficking.

Zambada’s case will be closely followed by the media and authorities, as it could have significant implications for the future of the Sinaloa Cartel.

However, many fear that his arrest could trigger a wave of violence as the cartel seeks to restructure.

The next hearing on September 9 will be crucial in determining the course of Zambada’s trial and the possible repercussions in the world of drug trafficking.

The «Carpe Diem» motto on Zambada’s sweater could be interpreted as a message of defiance or a reflection on his current situation.

The image of Zambada in a wheelchair contrasts with the feared and powerful figure he has represented for decades.

The future of ‘El Mayo’ in the hands of US justice is yet to be determined, and his case will remain a focal point in the fight against drug trafficking.

Zambada’s capture could lead to more arrests and increased pressure on the cartel’s operations. HERE is a photo of the trial.
