Venezuelan William Cáseres left his country two years ago, escaping the regime of Nicolás Maduro with hopes for a new life in the Netherlands.
He sought asylum in the country and had recently secured a job at a hotel.
While waiting for assigned housing due to his refugee status, he was staying in a room in Zaandam, where he tragically met his end.
The artist, also known in the LGBTQ community as Drag Queen Alyssa, was found dead in his room, a victim of a brutal murder.

The authorities confirmed this in their police report, which has not revealed further details about the circumstances of the crime.
“This is a 35-year-old man from Venezuela, who had been living in the Netherlands for some time, but had recently moved to the residence on Hogendijk.»

«The victim spoke Spanish and English, and it is also known that he regularly performed as a ‘drag queen'», detailed the Dutch police.
