This Friday, May 9, American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs will face the jury that will determine his legal fate in the federal trial he faces in New York for sex trafficking and other serious offenses.
The process, which has drawn significant media attention, will include the selection of 12 primary jurors and 6 alternates.
The hearing will begin at 9:00 a.m. local time, when defense and prosecution attorneys will meet with Judge Arun Subramanian to select the final jury from an initial list of 45 candidates.
Opening statements are scheduled to begin on Monday, May 12. The trial is expected to last around eight weeks, according to court estimates.
Combs was arrested in September and remains in pretrial detention without bail, held in a Brooklyn jail.

Diddy faces five federal charges:
- Conspiracy to commit extortion
- Sex trafficking by means of force, fraud, or coercion (two counts)
- Transport for the purpose of prostitution (two counts)
Prosecutors allege that Combs organized what they referred to as “freak offs”: multi-day forced sexual encounters in which victims were drugged and coerced into engaging in sexual acts with others. These encounters were allegedly recorded without consent, according to the indictment.

During raids on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami, authorities found approximately 1,000 bottles of lubricant and baby oil.
These items were allegedly used during the events.
