Authorities have charged several people in connection with the accidental overdose death of actor Matthew Perry.
Perry, 54, was found face down in the heated area of a pool at his home in Pacific Palisades on October 28, 2023.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office attributed his death to the acute effects of ketamine.
This anesthetic, known for its psychedelic properties, has gained popularity as a recreational drug and a treatment for depression.
Arrest in California and Reaction from Matthew Perry’s Family
On Thursday morning, at least one person was arrested in Southern California in connection with the case.
Federal prosecutors are expected to reveal a formal indictment later in the day, detailing the charges.
The family of Keith Morrison, Perry’s stepfather and a correspondent for «Dateline,» expressed their relief at the authorities’ action.
«We are deeply pained by Matthew’s death, but it is a consolation to know that the authorities are taking his case seriously,» the family stated.
The Los Angeles police had reported in May that they were collaborating with federal authorities to investigate the source of the ketamine consumed by Matthew Perry.
Although Perry was receiving ketamine infusion therapy to treat depression, his last session was more than a week before his death.

The coroner noted that the ketamine in his system «could not be from that infusion therapy» due to its short half-life.
