This occurred in the Shooting Creek area of the county around 5:45 am on Monday, May 27, according to WLOS.
Powerful storms affected areas of western North Carolina from Sunday night until Monday morning.
Strong winds knocked down trees and hail was reported in several areas.
Viewers sent News 13 photos and videos of hail accumulating around Burnsville, Weaverville, Leicester, Marshall, Canton and Asheville.
President Biden offers support
On Monday, tornado alerts remained for up to 16 million people in Washington DC, parts of North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland, according to the Storm Prediction Center.
Additionally, there was a severe storm alert in effect until that evening for New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The storms and tornadoes caused at least 23 deaths over the weekend. The holiday weekend in the United States took a deadly toll, including four children.
President Joe Biden spoke on Monday with some of the governors of the affected states. «He offered his condolences for the lives lost in each state,» noted a brief statement, according to EFE.
